Traveling has always been my passion. I am very happy that this year especially, I am being able to do that quite a lot. 🙂
The next destination was chosen and it was Maastricht.
Some facts about Maastricht
Maastricht is located in Limburg, the Netherlands. It is the capital and the biggest city within the region. The city of Maastricht is near the Belgian border. It is only about 4 km away.
In the past Belgians, Germans and even France wanted to have their authority in Maastricht, but the city remained loyal to the Netherlands. In 1815 Maastricht officially became part of the Netherlands.
Nowadays, the city has a lively and a cozy atmosphere with many fashionable boutiques, a lot of pubs and cafes, museums and much more!
Exploring the city of Maastricht
When I and friends have arrived in Maastricht, it was already lunchtime, so we decided to eat first. Along our way we found a restaurant called Azië Tapas. And decided to try it out.
We were not disappointed at all! The food was delicious, big portions and the prices were good. If I ever will go to Maastricht, I think I`m going to eat there again. 🙂
We visited a couple of churches. First, we went to the tower of St. Janskerk. In order to reach the top point of the tower we had to climb 218 steps. But it was worth it! On the top of the tower we saw the beautiful scenery of the city of Maastricht. 🙂
After enjoying the view of the city, we visited the St. Servaas church. Since, I am a museum person, I had fun spending my time in the church because there was a museum vault inside.
Nevertheless, I think it was a lovely and unique experience. The atmosphere there was very authentic. In my opinion, the bookshop and café fit very well with the church and the place attracts quite a lot of people. 🙂
As always, thanks for visiting my blog and until the next post.
