Our third day started early because we had to move again in the evening. We wanted to use our time as efficiently as possible, so after enjoying breakfast at the hostel, we prepared for the day. With our bright smiles and full stomachs, we set off for Greifswald’s First Mountain. Yes, that’s the actual name of the mountain: “First”. 😊
The mountain is situated above the village of Grindelwald and is 2168 meters above sea level.
It was fortunate that we arrived early in the morning to purchase tickets because, later in the day, when we returned, we noticed an extremely long line at the gondola ticket counter. So, we were indeed very lucky.
The first picture shows my besties buying the tickets with no crowds, and the second picture is from when we returned to the village of Grindelwald. The difference is enormous.
We took the gondola to go up the mountain. If I remember correctly, it took us about 15 minutes to reach the mountain’s top. The views from the gondola were absolutely stunning. Here are some of them. (Sincere apologies, as some of the photos have reflections from the windows, but I still thought it would be nice to share them here.)
At the top, the view was amazing, and being someone who loves winter, it was cool to see snow in late spring. So, we played in the snow for a bit and then started to explore.
When we reached First Mountain and went cliff walking, my trembling legs and dizzy head betrayed me. I walked unsteadily because I am afraid of heights, but nonetheless, the breathtaking views were worth it. I was thankful that I decided, despite my fear, to go to the top of the mountain.
There was a restaurant at the top of the mountain, and many people were just chilling and enjoying their moments while gazing at the beautiful view and savoring their favorite drinks.
We decided to treat ourselves and buy some snacks and a glass of wine to immerse ourselves in the beauty of the moment. The day was also exceptionally beautiful, with the sun smiling upon us. We even had a feathered friend who kept posing for us.
After exploring First Mountain, we took the gondola to descend and prepared for the next part of our trip.
Furthermore, if you are planning to visit Grindelwald, here are some useful links if you are interested in learning more about the area and its activities: Grindelwald First and Grindelwald.
We collected our backpacks from the hostel and headed to the train station. Once again, we had to spend quite some time on trains, traveling from the Terminal stop to Interlaken Ost, then to Luzern, from Luzern to Milano, and finally to Bergamo.
Yes, it was a long journey. But when you are with great friends, time flies. So, in the evening, we managed to reach Bergamo, Italy.
I was able to capture a few photos of Bergamo in the evening as we were heading to our Airbnb.
When we reached our destination, we had some tea, sat on the balcony, reflected on the day’s events, and discussed our plans for the following day. With that, our third day came to an end.
